Dr.G.P. Tripathi (Author)

Dr G P Tripathi is an Engineer by Profession with Ph D in Strategy. He has headed Turnkey Infrastructure projects right from concept stage to designing and implementation, successfully in South Asia, Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Singapore. Right from the young age of 22 he has been engaged in Managing Time bound international projects giving him hands on experience of TIME and its constraints from ground zero. So, quest for TIME was ingrained quite early. While having a successful career, he became curious about finding true reasons for Wealth of Nations, Regions and People. To explore this, he studied Economics and went on to do a Ph D level research on “Strategies and Practices” behind Stories of Economic Success and Riches. He discovered that while there are many factors rooting for such success, at the core of it all was Productivity.
Now Productivity in itself is a big subject but at the basic level it can be defined as “the rate of output per unit of input”. Since inputs are so varied it’s difficult to have a common approach to Productivity. However, one common input in productivity of all types is TIME. Time is something when optimized had huge potential to contribute to Productivity in almost all walks of life. Thence he shifted his focus to TIME and Time Management. He thought initially that since body of work on Time management is already existing now the riddle of productivity should be resolved. He reviewed available literature on Time Management & Productivity only to find the conventional concepts repeated by all, over and over again, to be fundamentally flawed and noticed the inbuilt reason for failure of Time management from such an approach. Some of the startling observations were as following:

1. Time Management was being attempted without first developing any understanding of the TIME itself.

2. While our brain can optimally handle 3 choices (and maximum 7±2) all books were offering 100s of ways to manage Time and productivity based on Time. While numbers overwhelmed initially, their utility was zero.

3. The Goal setting was never given any scientific treatment as a result people kept forgetting their goals and even their new year resolutions never materialised.

4. Every author offered hundreds of techniques to Manage Time but not even a single universal Principle.

5. Each book offered few entertaining stories, quotes and knowledge, which people forgot after putting down the book. No mechanism to further the actions was adopted.

6. Narration of celebrity biographies only made good motivation, giving an impulsive high but poor Time Management.

Most important of all He noticed: TIME just cannot be Managed. Time Management is basically a misnomer. Hence to start right from the basics he wrote this book “No Such Thing As TIME” which begins with new understanding of TIME & addresses almost all above flaws and tries to mitigate them.

He proposes to make this TIME Crusade a Global Mission. A Time Planner, Course on Implementation Science and A software is also proposed in the future. A back of the hand estimate suggests that by properly following this book individuals in general can raise their productivity by say 10 to 60% and nations whose citizen do so, can increase their productivity from 5 to 30%. Not a small feat for our World !!!
