Dipak .C. Jain was born on June, 9, 1957, in a small town in Assam, called Tezpur. He started his early education in Rastrabhasa Hindi School at Tezpur. Then he went to Darrang College, Tezpur, from where he earned his graduation in statistics and mathematics in the year 1976. Later in 1978 he obtained a Master's degree in statistics from Gauhati University. After completing his master's he taught at the Gauhati University for almost five years. Then he went to United Sates of America to pursue his PhD in marketing from the University of Texas, Dallas. 
Dipak .C. Jain is a noted educationist and a Dean of INSEAD, the international business school. He was also the former Dean of Kellogg School of Management. With more than twenty years of association with the Kellogg School of Management, he enjoyed his days in the institute as a professor, deputy dean and then as dean. Further with more than 50 books and articles to his credit, Dipak also served as an advisor to Thailand's Prime Minister during 2003-2006. In his long career, he has done research in various fields including marketing and management. For his service in the educational field he was honored with many prestigious awards.
